I suck.

We could use this free audio editing software:

https://www.audacityteam.org/

and this free anonymous filesharing software:

https://upload.disroot.org/

and suck together.....if you want....

Because once upon a time there used to be this thing called "music".

Hey, I don't exactly know what you mean, but it sounds somehow crazy and fun Big Grin Could you explain your idea a bit more detailed? I enjoy making music, even though I'm not that good

I just thought that we could make amateur music more or less the same way we make amateur stories: somebody could lay down a track, upload the file (you would need to know how to zip up a folder, but that's easy), someone else could download it and lay down another track, reupload it, etc. and it would be almost like a virtual jam session.

It might be fun. We won't know if we never try it.

I can hardly imagine it, but it sounds fun somehow... Would you use real instruments and record it or produce it somehow technically?

You could do anything you want. Smile It's free as in beer as well as free as in freedom. We aren't taking anything away from the pros by using a tool that is freely available for anyone.

You can record your own instruments or you can copy and paste pieces of your favourite songs the same way you can copy and paste pieces of your favourite stories and poems.

The pros don't care. They'll just laugh at us and tell us we suck, but we already know that. Big Grin

Let's see if this works:

(it's a Pete Seeger hack of "Old Time Religion" so should be public domain)

This one is .zip instead of .tar.gz which isn't particularly good security culture, but it's a folk song and I really suck trying to improvise on the fly so it was fun:

Not sure if it's just me, but it didn't work for me. I unpacked the zip / tar.gz and opened it with several programs, but both of the songs were just noisy and sounded like a swoosh. I tried to listen to it using Audacity and Amarok and vlc.
What am I doing wrong? Sad

Hey don't worry Smile l will probably play something and record it in the next days. I can play the guitar on a beginner's level and my singing isn't great, but since I'm rather anonymous around here ...
