For a few months I have been relying on IMalive and their crisis chat, but recently.. it seems it's never online. I know in the US the National Suicide hotline also has a chat, but that is unavailable to me (I'm in Canada). Just wondering if anyone knows of any other online IM chats that are out there. Calling the crisis line is a no-go right now because of how small the apartment is (partner can hear.. non-supportive)
www.imalive.org is really good, but I agree they're not always online.  I have no idea if this is available in Canada, but there's www.crisischat.org Also, if you're up for email, there's the Samaritans, who try to respond within 12 hours.  You can email them at jo@samaritans.org  (Everyone that responds uses the name Jo, similar to how everybody on one of the crisis chats uses the name "Alex")

:hug08:  Hope this helps.  Hang in there!

OK, so crisischat is part of the US National Suicide hotline, sorry.  They do refer you to this page... maybe one of these links would be helpful?
I haven't tried these services as I'm not in Canada ... maybe you could let us know if any are particularly helpful:
Crisis Centre Chat for adults http://crisiscentrechat.ca/
YouthInBC http://youthinbc.com/
Distress Center http://www.distresscentre.com/

Hope at least one of these helps, BrokenWings.
This site (Now Matters Now) just came to my attention... it has some DBT skills as well as links to online chats, IM, & phone crisis lines...
crisis textline is a good one
